In this video, interview expert Richard McMunn teaches you 11 things you should never say in a job interview. If you say any of these 11 things during your job interview, you are unlikely to get hired!
Make sure you watch the video from start to finish because Richard will help you to PASS your job interview!

#1 - “What’s the title of the job, again?”
• This shows you really are not interested in the job – you only want a paycheck!
• Before you attend the interview you should know the job title.
• Research the job description.
• Know what you are likely to be doing on a daily basis.
• Throughout the interview, match your skills, qualities, and experiences with the ones listed in the job description!

#2 - “This position will be a great stepping stone to my next job.”
• If you say this, you will NOT get hired!
• It takes time, energy, and resources to hire someone.
• The recruiter is looking for someone to stay with them.
• If you give a hint you might leave, you won’t get hired.

#3 - “My last boss was terrible!”
• Not only does this show disrespect, but it also tells the interviewer you may be disruptive within the team.
• Be positive about former colleagues and work colleagues.
• If you want a great answer to WHY DID YOU LEAVE YOUR LAST JOB? Click the link!

#4 - “I can’t answer that question.”
Instead, say:
“Can I come back to that question please later in the interview?”
“I will come back to you after the interview with an answer to that question.”
If you can’t answer behavioral interview questions… When have you provided excellent customer service, then say you have been in that situation yet, but you have observed others doing it and you would know what to do!

#5 - “So, what does the company do?”
• This shows you have carried out zero research into their organization.
• It’s a sure-fire way to fail the interview.
• If you said that to me in the interview, you will not get the job.
• Research the company (social channels, website, about us…)

#6 - “Discussions about benefits, vacation, and pay.”
You should not speak about these things unless invited to do so!
It shows you are more interested in what’s in it for you as opposed to helping their company succeed.

#7 - “I don’t think anyone else will be more qualified than me.”
• You don’t know this to be true!
• You are not the interviewer.
• Getting a job is so much more than just being qualified.
• You have to fit into their team dynamics.
• If you say this, you might not be the right fit for the company!

#8 - "It's on my resume."
• This shows you are slightly annoyed at the fact they haven’t read your resume.
• The truth is, the majority of employers use your resume as a filter to invite you to the interview.
• It’s your job to talk through your resume and explain how you are suitably qualified for the post.

#9 - “That’s a great question!”
• This is just you trying to buy more time to answer the question!
• It tells the interviewer you are probably going to struggle to answer it!

#10 - “I don’t have any experience, but…”
By saying this, you are telling the interviewer you are not a match for the job.
Instead, say… “Although I am new to work, I am hungry to learn. Being the type of person who learns things quickly, I am confident I will gain the necessary experience in super-fast time in the role.”

#11 - “I don’t have any questions.”
Asking questions is a great way to show the interview you care about their organization. My advice is to ask 3 questions at the end of your interview. Check out this video for some great questions to ask!
